Uterine fibroids are a common type tumor generally noncancerous that can grow in and on your uterus. Not all fibroids cause symptoms, but when they do, symptoms can include heavy menstrual bleeding, back pain. frequent urination and pain during sex. Small fibroids often don't need treatment, but larger fibroids can be treated with medications or surgery.


Fibroids are almost always begin (not cancerous). Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in women of childbearing age.


Your doctor or clinician may find fibroids during gynecological exam or by using imaging tests. Treatments include drugs that can slow or stop their growth, or surgery. If you have no symptoms, you may not even need treatment. Many women with fibroids can get pregnant naturally, but for some they may affect their fertility.

Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids

Not all women with fibroids have symptoms. Women who do have symptoms often find fibroids hard to live with. Common symptoms of uterine fibroids include:


  • Heavy or painful periods or bleeding between periods.
  • Felling "full" in the lower abdomen
  • Frequent urination
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Lower back pain
  • Reproductive problem such as infertility, multiple miscarriages or early labor.
