Minimally Invasive Gynecology Procedures

Minimally Invasive Gynecology Procedures

The physicians at 'The Woods Women's Group are experienced surgeons offering minimally invasive gynecologic procedures and surgical options to treat a variety of conditions.

If you are experiencing or have been diagnosed with pelvic pain, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, polyps, or uterine fibroids and finding that medication or non-invasive procedures are not helping, ask your doctor about surgical options that may be available to you. We specialize in a variety of minimally invasive gynecologic surgical procedures.

Colposcopy

If your regular Pap test shows any changes or abnormalities, your doctor may recommend that you have a procedure called a Colposcopy. The Colposcopy test provides more information about the abnormal cells, and may be used to assess certain problems.

Endometrial Ablation

The endometrial ablation procedure is a safe, minimally invasive treatment that uses the application of electrical energy to thin the lining of the uterus which results in a significant reduction or even complete elimination of future menstrual bleeding. It is often used to relieve abnormal bleeding or heavy periods.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes your uterus. After surgery, you can't become pregnant and no longer menstruate. Reasons for this surgery include abnormal bleeding, uterine prolapse, fibroids and cancer. Recovery usually takes four to six weeks, depending on the type of surgery you have.

Laparoscopy

This is a minimally invasive surgery utilizing small incisions and the aid of a camera to diagnose a condition or perform surgery. Laparoscopy is often used to address pelvic pain, endometriosis and ovarian cysts.

LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure)

ALEEP allows the doctor to remove abnormal tissue on the surface of your cervix and test it for cancer. The doctor may prescribe a LEEP if a Pap test and colposcopy find abnormal cell growths.
